Two quick ways to start being noticed by LLM’s
Stop chasing shiny new tools. The strategy to get noticed now is already in your Google Search Console.
Like me, you’re probably noticing a traffic drop from your PPC campaigns. You’ve seen the AI Overviews, the new "AI Mode," and the general rise in LLM traffic, and you're wondering what you can do to get ahead of the game. You’re exploring different tools that promise glory but can’t separate what might actually work from what won't.
Good news: You can get your content and brand noticed now with tools you already have and a little bit of elbow grease.
Step 1: Mine Your Google Search Console
Your goal is to find what your customers are really asking for. Mining your Google Search Console (GSC) for non-brand, high-impression queries is the simplest way to do this.
Sounds too simple? It is.
GSC queries show you how customers are tangentially finding your site. Look for queries with high impressions and a low CTR that are relevant to topics you want to be cited for.
If you find them, you know with certainty that developing content that clearly and directly answers those questions will improve your engagement.
Step 2: Apply the "Elbow Grease"
This is where the real work comes in. Your ultimate goal is to get the AI/LLM to cite your answer when a customer asks a question. Your job is to answer those questions before they’re even asked.
The easiest way to build your question library is to:
a) Use the top GSC queries from Step 1 as your starting point. b) Talk to your internal experts. Ask your sales team, product team, and customer service reps for the most common questions they hear about your brand or category. c) Mine your community. Look at social comments and forums for questions asked about your competitors as well.
Remember, you’re just trying to answer questions.
The Takeaway (And the Caveat)
That’s it... to start.
Do these two things, and you will dramatically improve your chances of getting noticed by both users and AI.
But buyer beware: it’s still up to you to identify the right questions and provide the best answers to drive relevant, high-quality traffic to your site.
